The 163,000-ton, 4,248-passenger cruise ship Norwegian Escape received her name in a USA TODAY contest. Guy Harvey was the lucky man chosen in 2014 to paint the Escape’s hull art. Norwegian Escape has the innovative features found on Norwegian Getaway and Norwegian Breakaway, as well as a number of new interactive experiences. The new 4,200-passenger miracle by NCL features an expanded Haven – the line’s concept “ship within a ship”. This space (accessible only by keycard) boast an outdoor terrace, private restaurant, courtyard area with retractable roof pool, whirlpools, spa treatment rooms, separate sauna, private sundeck. Other differences from the Breakaway-class NCL vessels are: more Haven Suites (42 to 55), 26 additional Penthouses, 14 Spa access suites, more Studio cabins (59 to 82). The home port of the ship is Port of Miami.Norwegian Escape itinerary program is based on roundtrip Eastern Caribbean and Bahamas cruises from Miami FL, with feature port destinations Saint Thomas, BVI and Nassau, Bahamas.

Cruise itinerary program

Since April 2018, NYC New York becomes NCL Escape's new home port in the USA, with roundtrip departures from Midtown Manhattan. Becoming the largest ever cruise ship homeported in NYC, NCL Escape was repositioned to NYC from Miami to operate on 7-night roundtrip itineraries to Bermuda (through September 2018) and also on 7-night and longer itineraries to Florida-Bahamas and other Eastern Caribbean destinations.

Cabins

Norwegian Escape has a total of 2206 cabins (of which 1717 outside, 407 Inside, 82 single cabins) in 42 grades. Most Norwegian Escape staterooms are 170-sq.foot Balcony rooms (1168). 47 are the wheelchair accessible rooms. The largest aboard Norwegian Escape are the Haven Deluxe Owner’s Suites (900 ft2).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

The honor to serve as the Escape’s godfather was given to the musician known as Pitbull (Armando Christian Perez). “Mr 305” was officially announced as leading performer during ship’s christening ceremony on November 9, 2015. On the NCL Escape ship is served Pitbull’s signature vodka brand “Voli”, mixed also in specialty cocktails (“Mr Worldwide”).

The Escape vessel features expanded 55-suite Haven, a spacious sundeck, 2 whirlpools, private dining and specialty restaurants, expanded courtyard, outdoor terrace, Thermal suite, treatment rooms (14 – suite Heaven SPA) and fitness center.

Entertainment options also include the NCL's FIREWORKS show (on each voyage), "Rock of Ages", "Cirque Dreams", "Illusionarium" (magicians show). Additional amenities include: Complimentary 24-hr Room-Service, Supervised Kids Program ("NCL Kids"), Internet/WiFi Access, Laundry.

On the ship there are organized children's clubs (participation in which is free) with special programs for children and teenagers in accordance with age:
Guppies (6 months - 3 years) - children's room for children only when accompanied by adults.
Turtles (3 - 5 years) - educational games, drawing, thematic game "Treasure Hunters".
Seals (6 - 9 years old) - thematic game "Treasure Hunters", pizza cooking lessons, games and activities, drawing, movies.
Dolfins (10 - 12 years old) - sports events, arts and crafts lessons, parties, team competitions and games.
Entourage (13 - 17 years old) - video games, sports events, cinema, parties, dinner with a peer, team competitions and games, aero hockey.

On the ship you can order a group babysitting service for children aged 3 to 12 years for a small additional fee. Working hours from 22:30 to 01:30 every evening. Unfortunately, there is no individual babysitter service. 

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

Norwegian Cruise Line introduced Norwegian Escape's à la carte specialty dining at the signature specialty restaurants onboard, providing passengers the freedom to savor gourmet dishes, various tastes and the flexibility to choose the number of courses to enjoy during the meal. On Norwegian Escape guests can choose between 11 complimentary dining options. They can also experience new flavors at signature specialty restaurants, such as Le Bistro, La Cucina, Cagney’s Steakhouse and Bayamo by James Beard Award winning chef Jose Garces. Norwegian’s signature specialty restaurants feature enhanced menus including favorite dishes and new tastes. Whether passengers prefer a light meal of a favorite soup or appetizer, or indulge in a dinner featuring Maine lobster, with the new à la carte options, they have the opportunity to create their own, desired dining experience.

The cruise company recommends to have three types of clothing during the trip:

  • for recreation and sports (casual);

  • clothes and shoes for excursions, depending on the season and route features (sport and casual);

  • elegant clothes for evening visits to restaurants and evening events: shows, casinos, clubs, bars (smart casual "more strict" and formal "strict").

During the evening events, the cruise company does not welcome a beach clothes.
