MEASURES TO EMBARK

The below requirements are valid for cruises starting from 1st October 2022. 

 

Vaccination requirements

  • All Guests embarking are strongly encouraged, but not required, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 

 

When a Guest is considered "fully vaccinated"?

 

- Guests who have received at least two doses of vaccine - except in the case of a single dose Johnson & Johnson - including those not considered up-to-date by EMA standards.

- Guests who have recovered from Covid-19 with one shot of vaccine are considered fully vaccinated (they must provide a QR code or alternatively a validating documentation).

 

Testing requirements 

  • For vaccinated Guests it’s not required (but strongly recommended) to present a negative test. 
  • Unvaccinated guests, guests without a vaccine certificate, or guests who have recovered from COVID-19, ages 5 and older are required to present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or Antigen test taken 48 hours prior to embarkation. 
  • IMPORTANT: All Guests embarking in a port of Greece are required (regardless of their vaccination status) to present certificate of a negative RT-PCR or Antigen test taken within 48 hours before embarkation. Guests must bring the valid negative test certificate with them to the terminal. 

 

Tests must be laboratory certified. A rapid antigen self-test is not valid for travel purposes. 

 

All guests are recommended to travel with their COVID-19 vaccination status and test results. While the vaccination is not required for boarding it could be requested in various ports of call and at local attractions.

 

The original test results certificate and vaccination certificate must be presented at the terminal (paper or electronic format) and must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, French or Spanish. The COVID 19 test certificate must contain: guest’s personal data (verifiable with the other travel documents), date of the test, identification / contact details of the centre that performed the analysis, technique used and negative test result. 

 

All Crew members are required to be fully vaccinated and regularly weekly tested according to MSC Cruises Health & Safety protocol.

The below requirements are valid for cruises starting from 1st October 2022.

  • All Guests ages 16 or older embarking are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. . 

 

When a Guest is considered "fully vaccinated"?

 

- Guests who have received at least two doses of vaccine - except in the case of a single dose Johsnon & Johnson - including those not conisdered up-to-date by EMA standards.

- Guests who have recovered from Covid-19 with one shot of vaccine are considered fully vaccinated (they must provide a QR code or alternatively a validating documentation).

 

Testing requirements 

  • For vaccinated Guests it’s not required (but strongly recommended) to present a negative test  
  • All unvaccinated Guests, from 5 to 15 years old are required to present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or Antigen test taken 48 hours prior to embarkation. Guest must bring the valid negative test certificate with them to the terminal. This also applies to Guest staying in United Arab Emirates prior to the cruise and local residents.  
  • IMPORTANT: Guests embarking in Doha, Qatar, independently from their vaccination status, must provide a negative negative COVID-19 RT-PCR taken 48 hours or Antigen test taken 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight to the State of Qatar.

CARIBBEAN CRUISES - COVID-19: MEASURES TO EMBARK FOR NON-US RESIDENTS

It’s every guest’s responsibility to verify the travel requirements before the cruise departure. MSC Cruises has worked with the authorities in all of the regions and countries in which the ships operate to ensure its protocol meets and exceed the required health and safety measures. The below details are subject to change.

 

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there might be international travel restrictions depending on your cruise destination and your country of residence. Currently the passengers residents in Iran, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore are not allowed to cruise (until October 2022).

 

The below requirements are valid for current and following sailings (health and safety measures are subject to change and will adapt according to the evolution of the pandemic).

 

Sailings departing from US ports

 

  • All Guests (12 years and above) must be fully vaccinated and required to show a proof of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test taken no more than 3 days before embarking the ship. 
  • All Guests (2-11 years) must provide proof of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test taken no more than 3 days before embarking the ship. Guests under 2 years of age do not require any testing prior to embarkation.
  • Guests under 2 years of age do not require any testing prior to embarkation.

 

Guests are considered fully vaccinated if they received two set of vaccine shots including Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford/Astrazeneca, Covishield, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Coronavac, Novavax/Covovax ​or any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines. 

 

The vaccination certificate must be valid for the duration of the entire cruise. 

 

To note: Guests that recovered from Covid-19 are not considered as fully vaccinated​ and an antigen self-test is not accepted for embarkation, in both cases boarding will be denied.

 

The original test and vaccination certificate must be presented at the terminal (paper or electronic format) and must be in English.The COVID 19 test certificate must contain: guest’s personal data (verifiable with the other travel documents), date of the test, identification / contact details of the centre that performed the analysis, technique used and negative test result.The COVID 19 vaccination certificate must contain: Personal identifiers (at a minimum, full name and date of birth) that match the personal identifiers on the passport, name of official source issuing the record, vaccine manufacturer and date(s) of vaccination.
