MSC Cruises' cruise ship MSC Virtuosa will star in new Channel 5 series The Good Ship Murder

THE GOOD SHIP MURDER – a real investigation on board the liner

The English channel Channel 5 filmed a detective series on board the MSC Virtuosa. The series premiered on October 13, 2023, and since then new episodes have been released every Friday.

The luxury cruise ship departs from the port of Southampton in the UK towards the Mediterranean Sea. But in the French port of La Rochelle (a real stop on the route of MSC liners), one of its passengers is killed.

The ship's crew conducts its own investigation, which involves Jack, a singer who entertains guests on the cruise, and a former real detective (played by British singer Shane Ward), and first mate Kate (played by Catherine Tildesley). Together they solve a series of murders in different parts of the ship, from the Carousel lounge to the MSC yacht club. Claire Sweeney will also join the cast as entertainment manager Beverly Carnell.

After La Rochelle, mysterious murders already “happened” in Le Havre, Lisbon, Valencia, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and others.

Antonio Paradiso, Managing Director of MSC Cruises UK and Ireland, said: “This new Channel 5 series will bring the brilliance of MSC Virtuosa into every home across the country, giving viewers an inside look at life on board one of our world-class ships. “Viewers will be captivated not only by Murder on the Good Line’s gripping storyline, but also by its impressive and innovative range of features that will appeal to guests of all ages.”

MSC Virtuosa launched in November 2019 and is the cruise line's second Meraviglia-plus class ship, accommodating more than 6,000 guests. MSC Virtuosa features 10 restaurants, 21 bars, 5 swimming pools, world-class entertainment and Rob, the world's first humanoid robot bartender at sea.

MSC Virtuosa currently sails from Southampton and, after a winter season in the Middle East, will return to the UK in spring 2024.
